Hannah Robertson, RNC-MNN, IBCLC, CD, is a lactation consultant who joined Commonwealth Pediatrics in 2023. Hannah’s journey in healthcare began with her education, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing‘s Accelerated BS program, where she maintained an impressive GPA of 4.0. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2016.

Hannah’s extensive list of certifications includes her achievement of certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners in June 2023. She also holds certification as a Certified Doula from the International Doula Institute, obtained in March 2021. Additionally, Hannah has certification as a Maternal-Newborn Nurse from the National Certification Corporation, awarded in August 2014. Her dedication to her field is evident through her involvement in various nursing initiatives and awards, such as being selected as Nurse of the Year on the Mother-Infant unit in May 2017.

Hannah’s passion for her specialty stems from her profound understanding of the challenges mothers can face in breastfeeding. Her six years of experience as a mother-infant registered nurse at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System’s Mother-Infant Unit provided her with invaluable insights and a deep commitment to helping mothers navigate lactation issues. She is well-acquainted with the challenges that can arise when breastfeeding doesn’t go as expected, allowing her to provide not only practical assistance but also genuine emotional support to mothers facing similar challenges. Hannah finds immense satisfaction in helping mothers achieve successful latches with their babies, creating palpable relief for these families. She also enjoys interacting with infants, nurturing her innate affinity for babies, and relishing each interaction.

Outside of work, Hannah enjoys a variety of interests, including puzzles, tennis, reading, spinning, and quality time with her daughter, Ruthie. She values family connections and frequently visits her parents, sister, and niece in Delaware. In addition to her career at Commonwealth Pediatrics, Hannah has a background in bereavement support for families experiencing perinatal loss, and she maintains a deep interest in childbirth and occasionally serves as a birth doula.
