Position Overview:
As a Medical Billing Specialist at Commonwealth Pediatrics, you will play a vital role in managing the billing and coding process for our pediatric services. You will ensure that all claims are processed accurately and efficiently, working closely with insurance companies, patients, and other healthcare professionals to resolve billing issues and ensure timely reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare and submit insurance claims for pediatric services, ensuring all information is complete and correct.
- Review and analyze patient charts and medical records to ensure proper coding and billing practices.
- Work with insurance companies to resolve claim denials and payment issues, following up on unpaid claims.
- Assist patients with billing inquiries and provide clear, timely explanations regarding charges and payments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, billing codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), and regulatory requirements.
- Process patient payments and post charges in the billing system.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to ensure documentation and coding compliance.
- Prepare and maintain detailed billing reports for management review.
- Assist with any other administrative tasks related to billing and revenue cycle management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in health information management, business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in a pediatric or healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Knowledge of insurance regulations and billing practices.
- Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, insurance companies, and staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
